There were many great Thriller film directors the most notable having to be Sir Alfred Hitchcock, two others are Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

Martin Scorsese is a film director, screenwriter, producer, actor and film historian.

• Date of birth: 17th November 1942
• Born in Queens, New York
• In 1967 he made his first feature length film called "Who's that knocking at my door"
• He has produced some of the most memorable thriller films to date, including Good Fellas, Taxi Driver and Gangs of New York
• Over his career he has worked with some of films greatest actors, e.g Robert Deniro in Taxi Driver and Kevin Costner in Goodfellas
• He was famous for using clips from the middle or end of the story and using them at the very beginning of the film
• Used freeze frames (e.g throughout Goodfellas)
• Most of his main characters were sociopaths and/or wanted to be accepted in society
• He often used long tracking shots
• Frequently used New York City (his birth town) as the main stage of his films
• Guilt is the prominent theme in most of his films
