Analysis of film cover - JAWS

JAWS 2
This film poster is definitely eye-catching. The background is a dark colour and the main picture is on a very light background which pops out at the audience.

The word JAWS is written in red and with the picture showing the element of danger in the film. It is also big and bold and stands out on the white background. The sub message is above this, which is good positioning as the viewer would have looked at the title then drawn in to read the sub message...which reads "And when you thought it was safe to go back into the water". This to sends a message to the audience that people are in danger and arent even aware of it.

Also the two pictures have an incredible size difference. The shark is massive compared to the woman, showing she is vulrnable but also shows she has no real way of getting out of the situation. The sharks mouth is also open and the woman's head looks as if it is inside giving the poster quite a scary film.

Below the picture are some of the actors involved, the most famous and recognisable names are usually put on the film poster to advertise as people may already know who they are or be fans of them.
